Livelihood & Food Security Expert

Dr Dorothy A. Amwata has experience with ecosystem dynamics, livelihoods and food security in the drylands

and is currently Chairman of the Department of Range and Wildlife Sciences, South Eastern Kenya University. Her area of expertise includes climate change adaptation and mitigation across different levels at local, national, regional and international levels.

Currently she is providing technical backstopping to AU/NEPAD Agriculture Climate Change Framework, AMCEN Comprehensive Framework on Climate Change, SADC Climate Change Framework and Programme, the SEI Africa, and Africa climate change and desertification programmes.

She is interested in bridging the gap between research and policy in order to create a synergy within Multilateral Environmental Agreements and integrate them into national, regional and international frameworks such poverty reduction, Millennium Development Goals, among others.
